A yob who left a police officer injured and vehicles damaged by throwing missiles during a rooftop stand-off has walked free from court.
Craig Horn climbed onto a roof and stayed there for five hours in an effort to stop police arresting him. During the stand-off, he hurled tiles and other projectiles, hitting one officer and damaging two police vehicles.
Newcastle Crown Court heard the offence happened on February 11 this year in Sunderland. Police turned up to arrest him around 9am and he didn't come down until 2pm. Michael Bunch, prosecuting, said: "He climbed onto the roof of the property and thereafter remained there for some five hours or so.

"During the course of his time on the roof, he jumped between properties, causing damage to the roof. He also removed tiles and other items from the roof and threw them towards police officers.
"One officer was struck and sustained an injury to his hand and he also damaged two police vehicles. The injury to the hand was not significant. It did bleed and he had bruising, swelling and a small cut to the back of his hand."
Horn, 27, of Kingsland Square, Downhill, Sunderland, who has 13 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to affray and Judge Christopher Prince sentenced him to eight months suspended for 18 months with a four month curfew and rehabilitation.
Jamie Adams, defending, said Horn had witnessed his friend drown in the past.
