Sunderland have tied down England youth international Adam Richardson to a new three-year deal. The 19-year-old goalkeeper has extended his stay at the club until the summer of 2026 and is the next young talent expected to come through the academy.
Richardson has played six times for the Black Cats' Under-21s this season and impressed, before heading out on loan to Northern Premier League side Guiseley. The 6ft6 shot stopper becomes the latest youngster to pen a long-term deal at the club, following in the footsteps of first-team goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.
Speaking to SAFC after signing a new deal, Richardson said: “I’m delighted to sign this new contract with the Club I’ve been at since the age of eight. The Club have a proven track record of producing top-class goalkeepers and this is the perfect place for me to develop. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

Academy Manager Robin Nicholls added: “We are delighted that Adam will extend his time with the Club for another three years. Adam has made excellent progress over a number of seasons, and we are excited to continue the journey with him. We firmly believe that we have the right support in place to ensure that he reaches his potential."
