Alex Neil insists Sunderland are pushing as hard as they can to add more new signings before the Championship kick-off this weekend. But Sunderland are running out of time to bring in reinforcements before the season gets underway against Coventry City at the Stadium of Light on Sunday. They have until the end of August to bring in new signings but Neil is acutely aware of the fact that seven league games will have been played before the deadline passes, and they cannot afford to give any teams a head-start in the Championship.
"When it comes to getting players in, then myself and everyone at the club that is dealing with transfer matters can only push it as far as we can push it," said Neil. "That's what we’re currently trying to do.
