A pervert is facing time behind bars after sending photos of his genitals to what he thought was a young girl.
Paul Texeira started chatting to who he believed was a 13-year-old child online but was actually a member of a group of paedophile hunters. A court heard that the 49-year-old's messages soon turned sexual and he sent the youngster a photo of his penis before asking for sordid pictures of her in return.
Unfortunately for him, the conversations were seen by police and Texeira was arrested. The pervert, of Windermere Street, in Sunderland, could now ben jailed after he pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and inciting a child to engage non-penetrative sexual activity.
Gurjot Kaur, prosecuting at Newcastle Magistrates' Court, said Texeira sent the messages to the decoy profile between July and August 2020. Miss Kaur added: "The 'girl' is befriended by the defendant The defendant uses endearing terms such as "love" and "hun" then sends "kisses and cuddles" before sending a picture of his erect penis to the 13-year-old and asking for images in return."
Miss Kaur said that the case was too serious to be finalised by magistrates and asked it to be committed to Newcastle Crown Court for sentence. Magistrates agreed and Texeira was released on unconditional bail to next appear there on July 5, when his mitigation will also be heard.
