- A Premier League Key Match Incidents panel has unanimously ruled that a penalty awarded against Arsenal during their 2-0 victory over Sunderland was incorrect, after Mikel Arteta called the decision “not accceptable”.
- The panel explained that Sunderland’s Dan Ballard pulled Ezri Konsa onto him despite the Arsenal defender initiating contact, although a 3-2 majority backed VAR Stuart Attwell for not intervening on the basis that it was not a clear and obvious error.
- The review panel also unanimously concluded that Erling Haaland's winning goal for Manchester City against Manchester United should have been ruled out for offside due to Enzo Fernandez interfering with play from an offside position.
- Pro Ref chief refereeing officer Howard Webb admitted VAR official Matt Donohue suffered from “tunnel vision” during the Manchester derby, leading to Donohue and assistant referee Blake Antrobus being stood down for the following round of Premier League fixtures.
- The panel fully supported the on-field red card shown to Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden for kicking Bruno Fernandes, while noting that Fernandes also warranted a booking for his role in the incident.
