Former Hamilton manager Alex Neil is in 'advanced talks' to become the new boss at League One club Sunderland, according to reports.
The 40-year-old has been without a job since leaving Championship side Preston North End last year.
Now Sky Sports report that Neil's return to management could be set for the Stadium of Light, following their decision to sack Lee Johnson.
Sunderland were in talks with former boss and Manchester United icon Roy Keane over a deal to seal his Black Cats return, but those talks are said to have collapsed.
Keane had two interviews for the job and a reported offer but he's opted to turn it down.
Neil was in charge at New Douglas Park between 2013-2015 after serving Accies with distinction as a player.
He guided Hamilton into the Premiership - where they remained until last year - before departing for Norwich City.
