Sunderland issue club statement regarding introduction of fan safety measures

Sunderland have announced the introduction of more away fan safety measures at the Stadium of Light after numerous issues with projectiles such as coins and bottles being thrown while inside the stands home and away this season.

The Black Cats have been in discussions with both their Supporter's Group and the EFL which have resulted in bans on 'coins and vapes' in the North Stand.

They will also be 'enhancing' their CCTV network and will be employing more stewards to increase the capacity of personnel available in the North Stand and all changes will be in effect by this weekend's home fixture against Cardiff City.
