A family returned from holiday to find a burglar had helped himself to their food and drink and was sound asleep on their sofa.
The man, woman and six-year-old child had been away for a few days and when they got back the youngster found a blue lighter on the ground outside. This sparked suspicions and when they looked through the living room window, they were shocked to see Christopher West dozing inside.
Newcastle Crown Court heard the male householder went in, woke him up and dragged him outside. Nothing had been stolen but he had eaten food and alcohol belonging to them and had smoked in their house.
