West Ham United and Sunderland are currently in talks over a potential permanent move for French midfielder Pierre Ekwah.
The Black Cats had been interested in signing the former Chelsea academy product on loan this month, but football.london now understands that a permanent move is currently being discussed.
Foot Mercato have reported that Ekwah will be joining Sunderland permanently having been convinced by the Championship side’s project. Back in the summer, they signed centre-back Aji Alese from West Ham on a permanent deal.

However, it is understood that at present, while a permanent move is being discussed between two clubs that have been managed by Hammers boss David Moyes, nothing has been agreed at present.
Ekwah was in action for West Ham’s under-21s on Friday night against Manchester United in Premier League 2. He scored the opening goal and provided an assist for Divin Mubama shortly after to make it 2-0. Ekwah came off at half-time, with West Ham losing the game 3-2.
In Premier League 2 this season, Ekwah has scored five goals in 11 appearances. While he is yet to make his senior debut, he did feature and score in the Hammers’ 4-2 mid-season friendly win over Cambridge United last month.
