Supporters from both Sunderland and Reading took part in an impeccable minute's silence at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Fans up and down the country have come together this week to pay their respects in midweek after the national game paused last weekend following the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. The country was shocked by the announcement of her death last Thursday, September 8.
A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

Both clubs fell silent for a period to remember the Queen before the National Anthem was played before kick off at 8pm. During the tribute a display screen read: "Her Majesty, The Queen Elizabeth II. 1926-2022'.
All football fixtures across the National League System in England were postponed at the weekend following Her Majesty's death. In a statement the FA said: "The Premier League and the ELF have all confirmed that their fixtures this weekend will be rescheduled for a later date.
"Our thoughts remain with our president, HRH The Duke of Cambridge, and the whole of the Royal Family during this time."
