DISCOVERIES can give Jessica Harrington a new first - victory in a British Classic - by beating 13 opponents for the QIPCO 1,000 Guineas (3.40) at Newmarket.
Not only is Harrington a Cheltenham Gold Cup winner with Sizing John in 2017, but she has also been a potent force in Flat racing, winning five Group 1 races with Discoveries’ siblings Alpha Centauri and Alpine Star. Mastercraftsman’s daughter Discoveries carried on the family tradition in her juvenile season, making her final start of the campaign with a three-quarter-length margin in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh last September.
The way Shane Foley’s mount powered home that afternoon suggested she would be in her element over a mile this year, and Discoveries looks the type to continue her upward curve as a three-year-old.
