Queen's coffin leaves Balmoral as she makes final journey to Edinburgh

The Queen has left her treasured Scottish home in Balmoral for the last time following her death at the age of 96.

Her Majesty's coffin was transferred from the Ballroom at Balmoral Castle into a waiting hearse, and departed from the main entrance at the Aberdeenshire estate at 10am, three days after her death was announced to the world on Thursday evening.

Members of the public watched on as the funeral cortege slowly drew out of the main gate before turning onto the road that leads towards Ballater, a town that this week spoke of the Queen as a "neighbour" and a "friend" during the summers she spent there with her family.

Darius Campbell Danesh's family explains injury that lead to chloroethane use

The loved ones of Darius Campbell Danesh has said that he was "suffering from chronic neck pain following a car accident in 2010", and sent their appreciation for the "love and kindness" shown towards them following his death.

The ex-Pop Idol star was found dead in his US apartment, in Rochester, Minnesota, last month at the age of 41.

He died from "inhalation of chloroethane", the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed, with his death ruled an accident by the medical examiner.

Kate Middleton 'changed' Meghan Markle's mind about going to Balmoral for Queen

Kate Middleton 'changed' Meghan Markle 's mind about making her way to Balmoral the day the Queen died.

Close members of the Royal Family rushed to Her Majesty's estate in Scotland on Thursday afternoon (September 8) to be by her bedside. Buckingham Palace then announced that the 96-year-old monarch passed away 'peacefully' with Princess Anne and Prince Charles there with her.

But behind the scenes, there appeared to be a sense of unease within the family over who would be making their way to Scotland, writes The Mirror.

Alex Salmond claims Queen said David Cameron should get 'six of best' after Indy Ref 'purring'

The Queen was so furious over claims she was delighted when Scotland voted against independence that she said PM David Cameron should get "six of the best".

An angry Monarch said the-then Tory leader, caught on microphone claiming she had "purred" down the phone after the 2014 result, should get the traditional punishment of six strokes with a cane for making up nonsense.

The revelation, from former first minister Alex Salmond, comes just days after the 96-year-old died at Balmoral Castle.

Queen's funeral bank holiday rules explained as Government issues guidance

The bank holiday will apply to all of the UK (Daily Record)

A bank holiday for the funeral of the Queen on September 19 has been declared by King Charles, raising questions about how the day off will work for people across the UK.

As the country entered a period of mourning, the bank holiday remained unconfirmed. Then, on Saturday, the new monarch approved the bank holiday during the Accession Council.

The UK Government has since issued guidance about how the day will affect workers. Millions of people could be off work, but the advice warns Brits it is up to employers to give people the day off.
