A huge 'doomsday' blast from the Sun this week could have knocked out Earth's internet.
A massive eruption of solar material, known as a coronal mass ejection or CME, was detected on Monday (13 March) at 03:36am UK time.
The potentially "catastrophic" CME has been compared to the Carrington Event, which the most intense geomagnetic storm in recorded history, peaking from 1 to 2 September 1859.
