Ciara Miller has officially entered her “laugh through the chaos” era, and honestly, fair enough. Fresh off the news that her close friend Amanda Batula is dating her ex West Wilson, the Summer House star spent the Euphoria season three premiere casually workshopping a thesis on stealing your mate’s ex-boyfriend, live on the red carpet.
Hosting for HBO at the Los Angeles premiere on April 7, Ciara interviewed Sydney Sweeney and went straight for the jugular. “If you steal your friend’s ex-boyfriend, what do you think is the next step?” she asked, in a moment shared on HBO’s Instagram.
Sydney, whose character Cassie famously hooks up with best friend Maddy’s (Alexa Demie) ex Nate (Jacob Elordi) in Euphoria, grimaced before replying, “It’s not good”.
Ciara didn’t miss a beat, telling her, “I feel like you ought to get married”, while Sydney agreed, “I would hope so”, and added, “You gotta make it worth something, because that’s just worth too much pain”.
If the question sounded pointed, that’s because everyone already knows the off-screen context. At the end of March, Amanda and West confirmed weeks of rumours by announcing their “very new” romance in a joint Instagram statement, explaining, “It was never our intention to purposely hide anything”, and that their connection had “grew out of a genuine, long-standing friendship”.
They said they needed “a little space to process things privately” and insisted they never wanted their actions “to cause any hurt or be perceived as careless”.
Reports have suggested the situation cut a lot deeper for Ciara. Us Weekly quoted a source who claimed she and West had been “casually seeing each other and seeing if things would work out again recently”, so him dating Amanda “feels like a deeper betrayal”. The source also said, “Ciara is heartbroken by this. She and Amanda were very close, and she feels more betrayed than ever by both of them”, while another insider alleged that Ciara “cut off both Amanda and West after finding out” and that “‘disappointed’ doesn’t even cover it”.

Publicly, though, Ciara is keeping her chin up. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the same Euphoria carpet, she described herself as “thriving” amid the headlines about Amanda and West’s relationship.
Euphoria star Hunter Schaefer also shared that she’d started watching her on Summer House three weeks ago, so I feel like the universe is slowly starting to have her back again. As it should!
She’d already hinted at how rough it has been during an earlier appearance at the Your Friends & Neighbours season two premiere, telling Jon Hamm, “I’m good. Well, I’ve been better”, before later posting the clip on Instagram with the caption, “If you can’t trust your Friends & Neighbours, who can you trust?”
Behind the scenes, her inner circle is firmly Team Ciara. On the Giggly Squad podcast, Paige DeSorbo told listeners, “Ciara is our real friend, in real life. So we have been talking to her, consoling her… We are behind her 100 percent”, and called her a “strong, intelligent, capable woman” who “will speak her truth when it is her time”.
Meanwhile, West has been caught up in another scandal after popping up in the socials for Complex’s new betting platform, which soft-launched by quietly converting the long‑running Sole Collector Instagram accounts into Complex Bets. Fans were furious that a beloved sneaker culture page had essentially been repurposed into gambling content without warning, and that it was now pushing a betting product rather than shoes.
Hopefully we’ll hear what really went down when the reunion airs on Hayu in late May. If you want more Summer House tea before then, check out our interview with fellow cast mate Ben Waddell:
