Over 800 people attended Link’s Summer Fun Day which hosted by the housing and tenant engagement teams.
The event was held at Bathgate Thistle football club’s Creamery Park ground on Sunday, July 10, and celebrated Link’s 60th anniversary.
Housing manager Liz White said: “We are absolutely delighted the Bathgate Fun Day was a success and the feedback from our tenants has been fantastic.
“This was Link’s first large community event in West Lothian and the range of activities and information stalls made it a fun, exciting day for people of all ages.
“After the lifting of pandemic restrictions, it was great to finally bring people together from across the West Lothian and Bo’ness area and show them what Link is all about."
The event had something for everyone, with free raffles, bouncy castles, face painting, information stalls and a small animal zoo. Bathgate Thistle goalkeeper Sean Brown was put through his paces in a ‘Beat the Goalie’ competition and delighted crowds were serenaded by community choir Singergie.
Link tenants were able to find out when investment will take place in their homes, view samples of fittings such as kitchen worktops and speak to the trades supervisors in charge of installing them.
The event had a strong focus on sustainability, with those attending invited to pot a plant to take home with them. The Link Advice Team provided money and energy advice and single use plastics such as bottles and cups were banned.
Chair of Link’s area board, Eileen Porter, said: “This event had a real feel-good factor for local people. I was delighted to see Link’s ethical approach with glass jugs of iced water and recycled paper cups and plates replacing the usual plastic!
“It was great to see Link bringing the whole community together – can’t wait for next year!”
