'Sulking' Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby leave This Morning fans fuming

This Morning fans weren't impressed with the show's hosts during today's edition of the show.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, 41, returned to the ITV show on Monday, after a lengthy break from our TV screens, but it seems the duo are ready for another holiday already.

On today's installment of This Morning both stars admitted to being a little miffed about missing out on a chance to enjoy a break in the Swiss Alps for a sommelier segment.

As the duo sat on the famous blue couch in the London TV studio, wine expert Helen McGinn and fashion writer Kat Farmer indulged in wine tasting while at luxury ski resort - leaving both Phil and Holly slightly jealous as Helen and Kat sipped wine in a hot tub.

Several viewers took to social media as the segment aired to point out how both presenters have just returned to the show following a few weeks off over the festive period - with Holly enjoying a £1,000-per-night holiday in the French Alps and Phil visiting Denmark for New Year's Eve.

As Helen and Kat caught up with the This Morning studio from Boutique Hotel Glacier Swiss Alps via video link, Phil admitted: "I am so jealous."

Holly agreed with her co-host and added: "I am absolutely dripping with envy. I don't know what I'm most jealous of: The wine, the scenery, the Swiss chocolate, the cheese."

Although some This Morning viewers chuckled at the duo's comments, many fans of the show felt it was a bit cheeky of the presenters to crave a holiday after so much time off.

Some viewers took issue with the segment airing amid a cost of living crisis impacting millions (ITV)

"Holly and Phil sat there annoyed, not like you two can’t afford to jet off at any time, spare a thought for those who can’t afford to eat x #thismorning," one fumed on Twitter as the segment aired earlier today.

"Oh look at holly and Phil pretending to be jealous , 9 holidays a year and working for 2 and a half hours a day is just terrible #thismorning," another added, while a third quipped: "Never at "Work" hardly BUT them two smarmy F***ers are jealous...it beggars belief !!! #ThisMorning."

Another viewer ranted: "Holly & Phil looking p**sed off they’re not there despite just returning from the world's longest Christmas break! #ThisMorning."

Prior to Monday's show, Phil and Holly- who have been presenting together since 2009 - last hosted a live edition of This Morning on December 9 2022, with Josie Gibson, 37, and Andi Peters, 52, covering for them while they enjoyed their time off.

Pre-recorded Christmas specials featuring both presenter aired over the festive period, but the duo were away from the studio for the last few weeks.

Holly took to Instagram on Sunday to confirm her comeback to the ITV show, sharing a snap of herself and Phil laughing together on the show as she revealed their return date.
