'Suit me' - Owen Beck's first words after sealing Bolton Wanderers loan transfer from Liverpool

New Bolton Wanderers defender Owen Beck says he is aiming to put a tough spell in Portugal behind him and help his new side push for promotion this season in his loan for the campaign.

The 20-year-old left-back has played twice for Premier League side Liverpool's first team, both of which came last season. He has spent the early stages of this campaign at Portuguese side Famalicao.

Beck had not featured for the Portuguese side yet this season. He has only been an unused substitute so far and it raised the prospect of his loan being cut short and a move to Bolton potentially in the offing.

Wanderers had made four acquisitions so far this summer. Eoin Toal and Jack Iredale have joined on permanent deals from Derry City and Cambridge United.

Two players have also been brought in on loan for the campaign. Defender Conor Bradley has joined from Liverpool, while goalkeeper James Trafford has been signed up again from Manchester City.

And the arrival of Beck means that the defender will link back up with Bradley as they share the same loan club. The defender will act as competition and a different option to Declan John and Jack Iredale.

It is understood that Championship sides made offers for the defender. However, Wanderers have manage to secure his services for the campaign.

And after linking up with Wanderers for the campaign, Beck is looking forward to putting his earlier spell in Portugal behind him and feels his move to Wanderers will suit him well. He is aiming to contribute goals, assists and seek to help the team challenge for promotion.

He said: “After a tough spell in Portugal, I can’t wait to get started here and get playing and training,

“I know Bolton play with wing-backs so I’m looking forward to it. I feel like I’m an attacking full-back so it will suit me down to the ground.

“It’s always difficult coming into League One but I’m looking to get as many games as I can, help the team with goals, assists, and trying to push for promotion.

“I’ve been into the stadium and it’s incredible. I’m sure the fans will fill it on the weekend so I’m looking forward to it.”
