Sugar Closes Higher on the Outlook for Smaller Sugar Supplies from Thailand

March NY world sugar #11 (SBH24) on Wednesday closed +0.42 (+1.55%), and Dec London white sugar #5 (SWZ23) closed +16.40 (+2.24%).

Sugar prices Wednesday closed moderately higher, with London sugar posting a 1-1/2 month high.  Concern that Thailand might soon limit sugar exports is pushing prices higher.  On Tuesday, Thailand's deputy commerce minister said the country would categorize sugar as a controlled commodity to control inflation and maintain food security, which means that a regulatory panel will be required to approve Thailand's sugar exports of a ton or more.
