Sugar Climbs on the Outlook for a Smaller Global Surplus

March NY world sugar #11 (SBH25) today is up +0.40 (+2.05%), and March London ICE white sugar #5 (SWH25) is up +12.10 (+2.33%).

Sugar prices today are moderately higher after Covrig Analytics cut its 2025/26 global sugar surplus estimate to 4.1 MMT from a previous estimate of 5.2 MMT. Sugar added to its gains today after top sugar trader Alvean projected Brazil would crush 604 MMT of sugarcane in the 2025/26 season, -1.6% lower than last year.
