'Suella Braverman's attitude sums up the Tories - out of touch and their needs first'

This week Suella Braverman announced tougher penalties for people begging on the streets. But the Home Secretary takes a different approach to scroungers when it comes to her own finances.

As we reveal today, Ms Braverman is exploiting an expenses loophole to use taxpayers’ money to pay the utility bills on her £1.2million London home.

Although these claims are within the rules they show a callous disregard for the millions of Britons struggling with the cost of living crisis.

While Ms Braverman has been able to claim £25,000 over the last five years towards her heating bills and other household costs there are families who are going without food because they cannot afford to heat their homes.

This week it emerged that seven in ten of the poorest children in England are not entitled to free school meals.

It also saw the Government cut support towards energy bills, leaving many households £66 a month worse off.

The Home Secretary is happy to use the expenses system to her advantage but has voted against measures which would have helped the most disadvantaged.

Her attitude sums up the Conservatives - an out-of-touch party who put their own needs ahead of the everyone else.

THE Easter holidays have got off to a miserable start for anyone having to travel from Dover.
