Anyone hoping for revivals of InFamous or Sly Cooper will be waiting for a while, as Sucker Punch isn’t revisiting either series anytime soon. Much to the chagrin of rumormongers everywhere.
With Sucker Punch’s 25th anniversary rapidly approaching, many hoped several of the studio’s legacy franchises would get some celebratory attention. On Friday, those asperations were thoroughly squashed.
“As our games continue to grow in scale and complexity, they require the full attention of our studio. With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit InFamous or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either,” Sucker Punch said in a blog post. “These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now, there are no InFamous or Sly Cooper games in development.”

Sucker Punch did clarify that the Cole’s Legacy DLC, initially only available through the InFamous Second Son Collector’s Edition, will make it on PSN in multiple regions. There’ll also be some InFamous 2 server maintenance so that the online infrastructure stays up longer. Unfortunately, the studio will also sunset those servers eventually.
None of this is terribly surprising, given that Ghost of Tsushima is far and above Sucker Punch’s most successful title. Still a bummer for anyone who grew up with the PS2 and PS3.
