Succession creator hints at the Roy siblings' future after shocking finale twist

Succession creator Jesse Armstrong has given fans some clarity about the future for the Roy siblings.

Fans followed Kendall, Roman and Shiv as they battled across four whole seasons for their father, Logan Roy's, media company Waystar.

The mega-hit show from HBO has kept audiences gripped as they've been exposed to the Roy's backstabbing and secret deals.

Ultimately, the three siblings have been fighting between themselves over whether Lukas Matsson's GoJo should take over Waystar Royco.

In the finale episode, the in-fighting between the siblings came to an end for a brief period as they teamed up to prevent the deal from happening.

However, Shiv's deciding vote saw GoJo buy out Waystar, leaving her husband Tom Wambsgans as the CEO rather than herself, completely changing the power dynamic between the couple.

In a behind-the-scenes feature of the show, the show's creator, Jesse Armstrong, adamantly confirms that this is the end for the Roy's, but hinted at what the future holds for Kendall, Roman and Shiv after losing their father's company.

Jesse explains that Shiv is now stuck in a "rather terrifying, frozen, emotionally barren place" as her husband, who she doesn't even like, is running her father's company.

"She’s got this sort of non-victory, non-defeat," he adds. "It feels like it’s going to be hard for them to progress emotionally, given the things that they’ve said to each other."

Roman is basically back where he began at the start of the series as a "playboy jerk" and shared that he would probably call the whole ordeal a "detour."

Kendall, who audiences saw become as close to Logan Roy as possible in terms of job title and the way he treated his two siblings, should "maybe go and start a company," Jesse says.

"Maybe he could go on and start a company or do a thing, but the chances of him achieving the sort of corporate status that his dad achieved are very low, and I think that will mark his whole life," Jesse concluded.
