Subrata Roy was a reliable sponsor: Ex-BCCI official

Subrata Roy BCCI Sahara Team India Sahara Group Board Ratnakar Shetty Cricket Mumbai

MUMBAI: Sahara Group chairman Subrata Roy, who passed away here on Tuesday, had a special relationship with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Roy's firm was Team India's main sponsor from 2002 to 2012.

Remembering the Sahara Group's association with the BCCI, Ratnakar Shetty, the Board's former Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), told TOI: "He was one of the most reliable sponsors we had. At any time, he had given us a Rs 40 lakh guarantee to encash, but there was never a payment default on his part."
