Think of North Wales and stunning landscapes spring to mind - from secret beaches to impressive mountains.
It’s a land of castles, beautiful waterfalls, and even a village which can give the Italian Riviera a run for its money.
But there’s one lakeside village which has plenty to discover - including a railway which can take you up Mount Snowdon, Wales’ highest mountain.
Nestled at the foot of the mountain, Llanberis is where many visitors begin their journey to the summit, whether by foot or by train.

Around two hour's drive away from Greater Manchester, it's an ideal location for a staycation and a great base to explore the Welsh countryside.
Hop aboard the quaint Snowdon Mountain Railway and in around 45 minutes you’ll arrive at Clogwyn Station, around three-quarters up Mount Snowdon.
It’s an accessible way to experience the breathtaking views of Snowdonia and means you don’t have to worry about blisters.
The railway has been running since 1896, and the carriages are actually pulled by a traditional steam train.
Still, if you do fancy hiking to the top, the Llanberis Path is one of the easiest trails to the summit, taking around six hours to complete and following the same route as the railway.
Meanwhile, there’s another stunning railway journey you can take from Llanberis, where you can enjoy beautiful views of Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris.
The five-mile journey passes through the beautiful Padarn Country Park to Penllyn, with the round trip taking around an hour.
You can stop off at Gilfach Ddu where you can visit the National Slate Museum and learn about the area’s mining past.
It’s where you’ll find Dinorwic Quarry, full of industrial ruins and the ghostly remains of cottages.
For another step back in time, Dolbadarn Castle is a must-see medieval fortress on the banks of Llyn Peris.
There’s a short walk to the castle through an area of woodland. Free to visit, it’s worth reaching the tower which boasts incredible views of the surrounding area.
And if mountains, lakes, quarries and a castle haven’t ticked all your boxes, just a short walk from the centre of Llanberis is the gorgeous Ceunant Mawr Waterfall.
Also known as Llanberis Falls, it’s an impressive sight with water tumbling down over a hundred feet into a gorge.
