An Ayrshire holiday resort has been named one of the Scotland’s top environmentally destinations.
Landal Brunston Castle has been awarded the coveted Green key eco-certificate, making it one of ten recipients across Scotland.
The picturesque getaway near Girvan has been recognised for reducing their carbon footprint by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.
Situated in the idyllic countryside next to the village of Dailly, the resort boasts stunning lodges which can sleep up to eight people.
And Environmental chiefs were impressed with the methods used at the holiday destination.
Brunston Castle operates no-mow zones, wildflower meadows and bird boxes.
The resort also caters for insects providing them with their own sheltered accomodation known as ‘minibeast hotels’.
Staff at the resort have also been praised for changing towels and bedding at the end of each stay, rather than daily, and staff engagement in environmental management is ‘extremely high’.
Tom Brock OBE, Chair of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “We congratulate the Landal Brunston Castle in receiving Green Key certification and look forward to supporting them to achieve continued environmental improvements, that can also result in financial savings.
“We have a highly skilled team of staff available to assist Green Key applicants with both technical support and advice and encourage you to get in touch today to start your sustainability journey.”
The Green Key Certificate has been a leading standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry since 1994.
Holiday resort bosses have told of their delight and scooping the award.
Eileen Paton, Resort Manager at Landal Brunston Castle, said: “We are so pleased to receive Green Key certification.
“This accolade serves as a well-deserved recognition of all the hard work of our team here at Brunston Castle; not only to ensure that our guests continue to benefit from an unrivalled guest experience, but to minimise the impact of their holidays on the stunning environment that surrounds us.
“Landal Brunston Castle is situated in one of Scotland’s most picturesque, diverse regions, so it is vital to ensure that we are going above and beyond to preserve this beautiful corner of the country for all guests and generations to come.
“We look forward to building on our sustainability efforts over the coming years, in the knowledge that Landal Brunston Castle continuously strives to maintain its position as one of the country’s leading and environmentally friendly resorts “
