The month of November means that it's almost time for festive parties and nights out, and I think I've found the perfect top to wear for some Christmas glitz.
It can be really difficult to find something festive to wear that looks dressy and can also be worn more than once. I've tried everything from wacky sequin dresses to little black dresses and they just end up collecting dust in my wardrobe.
I took a trip to River Island on Church Street to seek some festive inspiration, and was blown away by the options. There were a lot of beautiful pieces, but one emerald green top caught my attention as soon as I stepped foot in store.

This 'Green Satin Peplum Corset Top' is priced at £35 and gives just the right amount of festive vibes that I want. Granted, the colour may not be for everyone, but I think this striking emerald green is a really complementary colour.
The corset top features satin fabric with zip fastening and a bandeau neckline. Being a big fan of the colour green, I took it off the rack straight away and went to try it on.
As much as I love River Island, I know the sizes aren't always 'true to size' so I opted for a size 14 instead of a 12 given that this was quite a tight corset top. I was a little dubious at first, but as soon as I pulled up the zip fastening - I was obsessed.
I'm a big lover of peplum, because it covers all my lumps and bumps but manages to look really effortless at the same time. The corset top tucked me in really nicely, without being too uncomfortable.
I could've easily gone for my usual size 12 as the 14 was a little roomy, but I preferred that in some ways because I didn't want the corset to be too tight.
This corset top can be paired with a good pair of jeans, some leather trousers or even a skirt if you find the right one. I'm planning on teaming this up with a pair of bold pink heels for some contrast and a nice pair of leather trousers.
The bandeau neckline is really flattering but not too revealing, and adds a nice feminine touch to the top. I really like that the satin material has a subtle shine to it, making it look extra festive and dressy.
With the weather getting chillier, I don't think I can be brave enough to wear this top on its own. I'll probably wear a big oversized black blazer for some layering and extra comfort.
I don't think this top is just for festive wear only. As lovely as it'll be for Christmas drinks, I'm planning on wearing this top for a special occasion any time of the year - even summer. Shoppers can purchase the Green Satin Peplum Corset top for £35 here.
