PATNA: The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), one of the flagship schemes of the Centre launched more than four decades ago as a corrective intervention for young children in the 0-6 age group and expectant or nursing mothers, is yet to deliver the desired results in Bihar.
According to a recent study by the Population Research Centre (PRS) of Patna University on 'An assessment of performance of ICDS scheme through Anganwadi centres (AWC) and its impact on nutrition and health of young children in Patna, Bihar', half of the beneficiaries are not satisfied with the overall services provided by anganwadi centres under the ICDS scheme. And, at least 27% of them are dissatisfied and highly dissatisfied with the working of AWCs.
