New research has revealed the exercise habits in older age that could help reduce all-cause mortality as well as cardiovascular disease.
A combination of weightlifting and aerobic exercise every week may be the key to a longer life as it was found to offer the most benefits. This is according to a new study carried out by the US’s National Cancer Institute in Rockville, Maryland.
The researchers looked at 99,713 adults who had an average age of 71, with all participants reporting on their physical activity. Both aerobic exercises - like jogging or cycling - and lifting weights - be it free weights or machines - were found to reduce health risks.
