Studs and duds from Panthers’ Week 17 loss to Jaguars

Surprisingly, we were able to sift through all the struggles to find a few gems from Sunday.

Here are the studs and duds from the Carolina Panthers’ 26-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars:

Dud: QB Bryce Young

Young—who looked uncomfortable all day, and in more ways than one—failed to follow up on his career outing from Week 16. He completed 19 of his 32 throws for 112 yards and a pick.

Dud: LT Ikem Ekwonu

Young’s left tackle played a huge role in that discomfort. Ekwonu continued to struggle in pass protection and got quite the work from Jaguars standout pass rusher Josh Allen, who recorded a game-high 3.0 sacks.

Dud: WR DJ Chark

Chark didn’t have the “revenge” game he may have hoped for. The former Jaguar’s one-catch performance was headlined by three huge drops over a four-play-stretch in the fourth quarter.

Stud: OLB Brian Burns

Burns notched a team-high eight tackles and picked up his first sack in over a month.

Stud: DT Derrick Brown

Burns shared that tackle lead with Brown, who was ejected in the fourth quarter for his scuffle with Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson. Props to the big man for showing the only fight from Carolina on the day.

Stud: LB Deion Jones

Bob Self/Florida Times-Union

Jones had a relatively disruptive display. He amassed a season-high seven tackles, one of which was his first sack of 2023.
