A young woman has spoken of how her student life was turned on its head when she was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. Eloise May, 20, woke up one night with a "really bad pain" in her arm and chest.
Eloise May first thought that the pain was related to a horse riding injury, or even from getting home drunk. But doctors discovered a lightbulb-sized tumour in the middle of her chest, which was compressing almost a third of the vein that returns blood from the brain to the heart.
She said she was left in "disbelief" when she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in February. The third year Liverpool John Moores University student said it wasn't until she saw biopsy samples, which looked like "little white worms" in a pot that the reality of what she was facing hit her, reports the Liverpool ECHO.
