Student makes £55k in six weeks after launching business inspired by night out

A university student who came up with a new business idea while he was on a night out has now made more than $100,000 (£55,000). Bailey Page, from Queensland, Australia decided to invent a new wireless phone charger after his mobile ran out of battery while he was ordering an Uber home from a nightclub.

The 22-year-old looked online for a cable-free charger that could fit in his pocket the following day but couldn't find one, the Mirror reports. He then decided to make his own and put his savings into developing the Zip Zap charger during his final year of his studies.

His nifty invention clips onto the device and charges it in two hours and was a hit among consumers as Bailey sold out his initial stock of 200 within a fortnight in 2021. He then secured 1,500 of further sales across his homeland the following month. Within six weeks he'd hit his goal of selling 2,000 chargers in a year.
