Workers have described a 'strong smell of cannabis' as police busted a large grow at an industrial estate in The Meadows. At least three police vehicles and National Grid vans were in attendance in Crossgate Drive, on Tuesday morning, January 31.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to the scene at around 8.20am as part of an investigation. But officers subsequently found cannabis plants inside.
A worker on the estate, who did not wish to be named, described a strong smell of cannabis in the wider area. They said: “It has started to smell really strong of cannabis in the last couple of weeks. I told my manager about it and it went to HR.

“There were two police cars when we came here this morning. It is shocking.”
Electricity was subsequently cut off to 'make the scene safe'. Officials from the National Grid, who were working with police officers at the scene, described the scale of the cannabis operation.
Marcus Newman, from National Grid, said: “I think there were 400 plants. It is a big grow. Look at the size of the building for a start. It is the biggest cannabis farm we have ever seen.”
Rob Kerry, a manager at Clifton Trade Bathrooms, spoke of the unusual activity that he noticed in the area. He said: “We were left with no electrics today and no internet. We only have basic lightning.
“They have had a new roof done months ago. It is a big, expensive roof and they have connected all the electrics to our system. You can feel the smell right now."
Another worker, who wanted to remain anonymous, added: "I had no idea of what was going on in there until I saw police this morning. Our electricity has been affected, too. Other workers have been affected more than us. It was a shock when I saw the police this morning."
Detective Inspector Jon Kerry said: “As part of a proactive police investigation, officers attended a property in Crossgate Drive, The Meadows, at around 8.20am today. A cannabis grow was then discovered by police at the address and inquiries are still ongoing.”
