Forward-thinking Morgan Steedman is determined to help fire St Johnstone WFC into the top tier of Scottish football.
Saints have carved out a strong start to the new season, picking up back-to-back wins against Queen’s Park and East Fife respectively.
After a number of years plying their trade at the second level, Steedman has strong aspirations to be right among the promotion push.
“The main goal we are all striving towards this season is to finish top and get promoted,” Steedman told the PA.
“We are working really hard on all aspects of our game and are really hoping we get to have the opportunity to play in the top league and learn from the best.
“During pre-season we had a couple of friendlies against teams in the league above and the experience was so valuable to our development.
“It was an amazing learning experience for us and also motivated us to want to be at that level and competing.”
Steedman netted the only goal of the game in last Sunday’s 1-0 win against East Fife.
She explained: “It’s always great to get on the scoresheet and it’s good to get it kick-started this season.
“I always set goals for the season but never worry about how many I score.
“I help in any way I can to get the team to win. That is always my number one priority and objective.
“It’s been great to get two wins to start the season.
“However, we haven’t played nearly as well as we are capable of so I think that is motivating us more that we still have more to give.
“We want to produce high quality performances and get the results.
“The win has given us a great boost in training and we want to build on it for the next few games, but we always just take one game at a time.”
Saints will look to keep the feel-good factor flowing when they travel to take on Stirling University this weekend.
Steedman said: “I think they will come out with fire in their belly as they will want a positive result to kick-start their season.
“We have to be prepared to work hard and dig deep until the final whistle to get the result.”
