Strictly's Matt Goss confesses he was the victim of an attempted abduction as a child

Strictly Come Dancing star Matt Goss has revealed that he was once the victim of an attempted abduction when he was a child.

The singer, now 54, has told of the harrowing ordeal which took place in Camberwell, south London when he was just seven years old.

He recalled the terrifying incident in his memoir, More Than You Know, where he admitted that he can still “vividly see the face” of the person who tried to snatch him in the street, even to this day.

Matt wrote: “A man tried to snatch me into a car. I can still see his face vividly, dark-haired and with a moustache.”

The Bros singer continued: “I often used to sit on the wall by an old people's home. One day I was there, just hanging out and being a kid really, when I heard a noise behind me.

“I looked round and saw this man reaching for me. Over his shoulder I could see his car parked by the grass verge with the back door open.

“I jumped off the wall which was ten feet off the pavement and ran all the way home. It scared the hell out of me.”

Matt is currently entertaining the nation as part of this year’s star-studded Strictly line-up.

His BBC dancing debut hasn’t got off to the best of starts as he found himself in the bottom two and bopping for his survival in the second week and first public vote.

Loose Women star Kaye was the first contestant to leave Strictly on Sunday evening after she faced Matt in the dreaded dance off.

After the bottom two were revealed, both couples performed their Saturday routines again, with Kaye and her dance partner Kai Widdrington performing their Charleston to Music! Music! Music! by Dorothy Provine.

Then, Matt and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova performed their Samba to Night Fever by the Bee Gees in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts and all but Shirley Ballas chose to save Matt over Kaye.
