Strictly’s Kaye Adams shares cause of savage rib injury – and blames partner Kai

Strictly Come Dancing star Kaye Adams has revealed how she suffered a ‘lethal’ injury during rehearsals for the hit BBC ballroom dancing show, ahead of the second live instalment.

The 59-year-old presenter will perform the Charleston with professional partner Kai Widdrington during Saturday night’s episode – but on Friday she showed off bandages on her side.

The Loose Women host explained that it was a result of energetic rehearsals with the 27-year-old professional partner.

She said: “I slightly mistimed a lift as Kai was chucking me over his shoulder. You know how you bump your elbow on the end of a table? Well, I bumped my rib on Kai’s rock-solid abs.”

This comes after Kaye shared details of her first Strictly Come Dancing ‘injury’ with fans, as rehearsals for the BBC ballroom show got underway.

The talk show host took to her Instagram page to upload a snap showing the palm of her hand looking red and sore.

The 59-year-old wrote: “First Strictly injury,” before telling her followers it was caused by “overenthusiastic clapping!”

The ITV presenter has also previously admitted how Strictly Come Dancing's intense rehearsal schedule for 2022 has played havoc with her sleep.

She took to Twitter to write: “Struggled to sleep last night after the first day of Strictly rehearsals. Tried to count sheep but couldn't get past 5, 6, 7, 8.”

The 20th series of Strictly is once again being hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, with Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke returning as judges.

The 15 Strictly couples take to the dancefloor for their second performances in front of the judges – with their fate in the public’s hands.

While there was no public vote last week, the pressure is now on to get their steps right as the phone lines are open after the show for fans to vote for their favourite routines.

The contestants' scores from last week have been carried over to this weekend and will be combined with the viewers' votes, with the lowest scoring couples going head to head in the first dance off of 2022.

The first results show of the series starts on Sunday 2 October at 7.15pm, beginning after the Antiques Roadshow.

The two couples with the fewest votes then go head-to-head in the dance-off, delivering another rendition of their performance from the live show.

The judges then decide which couple they would like to save, and in the event of a tie head judge Shirley Ballas is given the casting vote.

None of the duos will want to be the first to leave, but one of them will be waltzing off into the sunset when the results are announced tomorrow evening.

*Strictly Come Dancing returns live at 6:30pm on Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
