James and Ola Jordan have shared their surprising predictions on who will be the first to leave Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
Although former Arsenal footballer Tony Adams, 55, found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard following his Tango to Go West by The Village People with partner Katya Jones, James and Ola don't think the retired sports star will be the first to get the boot - suggesting he will attract sympathy votes from viewers watching at home.
This year's live shows finally kicked off in style on Saturday night [September 24], after the big launch was pushed back earlier this month due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Dream team Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman returned once again to host the 20th series of the BBC show, as a new batch of celebrities took to the dancefloor in their bid to lift the Glitterball trophy later this year.
Saturday’s show saw actor Will Mellor and wildlife presenter Hamza Yassin place joint top of the leaderboard, both achieving an impressive score of 34 in week one. The Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps actor performed an electric jive to Livin’ La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin with his partner Nancy Xu which impressed judges Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas so much that they gave him a standing ovation.
Towards the lower end of the leaderboard, Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams and her partner Kai Widdrington sit just above singer Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova - with former footballer Tony and Katya currently occupying the dreaded bottom place after the first live show.
"I don’t think it did him any harm in week one, I know that no one was going out. But I think people will be on his side next week. I will be sitting there willing him to do well," James said about Tony's poor score - adding how people would have possibly 'picked up the phone and voted for him' due to his upset reaction.
Writing in their HELLO! column, Ola suggested Kaye and Kai could be a good bet as to who will be voted off first this weekend, as well as Matt and Nadiya. She said: "The thing with Matt Goss is that everyone has high hopes, and he wasn’t quite there."
James added: "It came across as he wanted it too much. Sometimes people don’t like that, and won’t pick up the phone and vote for him. I’m sure he’s a lovely guy!"
At-risk Kaye has admitted she stepped 'too far out of her comfort zone' during her Strictly debut on Saturday night - revealing she picked up a 'wee groin strain' as she performed the Tango on the famous BBC dancefloor.
Looking back on her performance on Monday's Loose Women, Kaye said: "I have never ever danced before. I know people say 'out of my comfort zone' very lightly.
"But boy, that was so far out of my comfort zone it was unbelievable."
"There just comes a moment where you either lock yourself in the bathroom or you get out there and do it."
The Scottish TV presenter went on to add: "I have got a wee groin strain but you don't want to hear about that. That is TMI [too much information]."
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One this Saturday
