Helen Skelton may have sent a message to her ex with her sassy and sexy final routine on Strictly Come Dancing - as she gesticulated into the camera while a symbolic lyric played.
Judge Shirley Ballas spotted the 'message it sends' as she praised Helen Skelton for her symbolic gesture while the lyric 'you're better off without me' was played over the dance.
Helen was wearing a tight black dress far above the knee paired with fishnet tights as she danced the Cabaret Mein Herr dance which scored her 40 out of 40 and put her in prime position to win Strictly Come Dancing 2022.
LeedsLive reports that Shirley Ballas told Helen and Gorka after the dance: "Everybody who dances today is a winner in my eyes but you peaked at just the right time. This number, well it sends a message and I love the message it sends. It was polished, it was clean, it was everything you need for a final dance."
Viewers think Shirley Ballas must have been alluding to Helen Skelton's very public and bitter marriage breakdown at the start of the year. Rugby league player Richie Myler, 32, broke up with ex-Blue Peter presenter Helen, who hosts Countryfile and Winter On The Farm, four months after she gave birth to their third child together. He is set to become a father again with his new girlfriend, Stephanie Thirkill.
The lyrics to Mein Herr state: "Bye bye mein lieber Herr, Farewell mein lieber Herr, It was a fine affair, but now it's over. And though I used to care, I need the open air. You're better off without me mein Herr".
The dance had been dubbed Helen's 'revenge dance', as she slipped into a slinky black outfit and fishnet tights and then waved into the camera as the lyrics sang 'you're better off without me Mein Herr' (mein herr translating to 'my Mr').
On Twitter, Tim Galsworthy said: "Princess Diana had a revenge dress, Helen Skelton had a revenge dance."
And @CheshreladO tweeted: " C'mon Helen. Revenge is a dance served slick and sweet. Joyous, sassy, proud we all love ya! Wow! "
Discussing her decision to take part in Strictly following such a difficult year Helen admitted she was reluctant. She said: “I was talking to my best friend about it and I was like, ‘I’m not sure, there’s the kids and the press and it will be full-on’.
But it didn't appear any of it got to Helen as the other judges also praised her and Gorka. "What a performer you are, unbelievable" said Anton Du Beke. Craig Revel Horwood joked that Helen's 'little finger' was out of place to boos before adding: "That is a dance that should win a final. That is incredible!".
Viewers loved Helen's dance. @bigmadrad said: "Well done that lady! What a way to finish! Helen brought the house down."
@ammyy102 said: "helen skelton you absolute legend i love you you are the best person ever." @beanee said: "Standing ovation! I feel like the #Strictly experience came at a good time for Helen. And who doesn't love Gorka muscles in eyeliner."
Helen and Gorka scored a straight 40 out of 40 with their Mein Herr cabaret dance of course and everyone had them down to win. It wasn't enough, though, and Helen narrowly lost out to Hamza and Jowita.
