Strictly's Helen Skelton met with support on Instagram after 'fight back' from personal heartache

Helen Skelton has been met with an outpouring support for her 'fight back' on Strictly Come Dancing after a tough time in her personal life, with the star flooded with comments over a tour photo she posted on Instagram.

It was well documented before Helen signed up for Strictly that her marriage to rugby star Richie Myler had broken down, with her then having to see stories about him moving on with a new girlfriend.

After being the final star to be confirmed on the BBC show's line-up for last year, Helen had a rather hesitant introduction to life in the ballroom, as she battled a crippling lack of self confidence. However, with some help from her pro partner Gorka Marquez, she turned a corner in Strictly's special to honour the BBC's 100th birthday, when she and Gorka flew up the leaderboardc thanks to their brilliant Charleston to theme tune to Blue peter, the show she used to present.

Helen and Gorka ended up making it all the way to the final, getting a perfect 40/40 for the reprise of their Couple's Choice and now Helen, along with new partner Kai Widdrington, is having great time on the Strictly live tour, with the new double act earning themselves 11 victories so far, including a clean sweep of wins in Newcastle last week, in front of the TV host's family.

There was a huge moment for Helen and her Strictly co-stars at the weekend when they headed to London's famous O2 Arena and, it was after sharing a shot of them there on her Instagram that Helen saw support come pouring in for her.

One fan told her: "I can’t recall anyone else I’ve known who has dealt with the absolute horrible trauma that you did maybe only 18 months ago and come out with such a fighting attitude and bringing the love of the country in your wake! It’s so brilliant Helen!"

They added: "Sets such a strong position for other people who may have similar challenges… and once all this tour is over, then go and relax with family and shut off from the outside world for at least three months."

Also full of respect and admiration for her overcoming her personal setback, another Insta follower replied: "you are living the dream! Makes my heart sing, seeing you finding yourself after all this time. Sky's the limit - keep going - you got this," with a third commenting: "You’re such a joy! Coming to support you has been my favourite thing ever, so proud of you"
