Strictly's Helen Skelton lands top TV job alongside Hamza Yassin after final

They might have been rivals just days ago in the Strictly Come Dancing final, but Helen Skelton and Hamza Yassin are reported to be teaming up to front the same TV show.

Millions and millions of viewers tuned into BBC One on Saturday night to see Helen and Hamza battle it out with Fleur East and Molly Rainford for this years Glitterball trophy and, after a closely fought night, with each celeb and their professional partners performing three routines each, it was Hamza and pro Jowita who topped the all important public vote to become Strictly 2022 champions.

While Hamza had been bookies favourites for well over a month going into the final and was a very popular contestant, there were plenty of people who tuned in at the weekend hoping to see Helen seal victory alongside Gorka Marquez. Helen was interviewed on Monday's Lorraine and while stand-in host Ranvir Singh referred to Hamza's win as being 'not without controversy,' the former Blue Peter star was very gracious in defeat, saying her big aim was to make her children proud.

Hamza has already been confirmed to be on the Strictly tour in the new year and, while there is no word yet if Helen will be joining him, rumours are flying that they will join forces to be the 'new faces' of long-running BBC show Countryfile.

A source told the Daily Star: "It’s a huge opportunity for Hamza and Helen as Countryfile’s ratings eclipse most soap operas. But it’s unlikely to be the only project they both get."

The news of a potential Hamza and Helen double act on Countryfile, comes as Hamza is being touted as 'the next David Attenborough,' having already fronted a number of wildlife shows, as well as doing some sterling work behind the camera.
