Hamza Yassin has revealed a secret about his incredible long locks on Strictly Come Dancing - and they've been 17 years in the making.
The Countryfile cameraman has won the hearts of the nation since appearing on the BBC One Latin and ballroom show, with his long hair very much loved by viewers tuning into the show on a Saturday night. Hamza and his professional partner Jowita Przystał wowed with their routine last week, earning a nearly perfect score for their high energy routine.
Hamza appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain today where he chatted to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley about his incredible routine and let them into a Strictly secret about his hair and his costumes on the BBC show.
Speaking on the show, when asked if he ever cut his hair in the past, he said: "I have, it’s only 17 years old as such.
"And there’s been bits that have been trimmed because I was in the Arctic and it dipped in a bit of engine oil so it’ll get snipped off every now and then. My hair is part of me and Jowita's nice enough to put up with it in training."
Hamza also shared a secret about how they make sure his hair doesn't "knock Jowita out".
"Sometimes it’s pinned to my shirt," as Richard then added: "It might knock Jowita out!"
Earlier this week, Hamza revealed he has shed over a stone since he started dance rehearsals for the BBC show, but he admits his body is just "aching and aching" as he rehearses for hours and hours every single day.
"I've lost a lot of weight already, around 6.5kg [1.02-stone], which is unheard of really. But if you're training nine hours a day you kind of get that. It's hard," he said recently, "Everything just aches and aches.
"With the foxtrot my knees ached, then it was my knees and my lower back for the jive, and this week it's a hard dance."
He admitted it is hard for the celebrities to come anywhere near the professional dancer's quality - but he has loved taking part so far.
"These guys [the professional dancers] have been doing it for 12 to 15 years and we have to come to their standards in four days," he said, "We [the celebrities] are never going to get to their standards, but we still have to learn the basics and do a show and perform and deliver it on a Saturday. It's kind of crazy, but I'm absolutely enjoying it."
