Giovanni Pernice was forced to issue an apology to fans waiting to see him in Whitley Bay at the weekend, over a 'delay' on getting to the venue, before wowing two packed audiences with his Made in Italy show.
Since the middle of January, former Strictly Come Dancing winner Giovanni has been touring the country with the well received production; having turned down the Strictly live tour in order to tread the boards n his own nationwide jaunt. Together with a cast that includes fellow Strictly pro Lauren Oakley as his leading lady, Giovanni has been earning rave reviews for Made in Italy and, having delighted crowds in Durham a few months ago, he made a return to the North East for two shows at Playhouse Whitley Bay.
As well as getting prime seats to catch Giovanni in action, some other fans had also paid for a meet and greet, but sadly for them, they had to wait just a bit longer to spend time with the man himself, as there was a delay with him getting to the theatre.

Announcing some changes to the schedule, the Playhouse posted on their Facebook page: "Due to artist travel delays our first Made In Italy Meet & Greet will take place AFTER the 2.30pm performance." The post added: "Giovanni and his team apologise for any inconvenience caused."
On Sunday, the Playhouse followed that up with a photo Giovanni had taken on stage, with him in front of his captive and very enthusiastic audience. They captioned the picture?: "WOW….What a day.. Two sold out performances for Playhouse favourite #giovannipernice and his amazing dancers. Fantastic shows with fantastic audiences. Thank you to everyone who joined us. Special thank you to our amazing tech and front of house staff."
The post got plenty of comments from people fortunate to have been at either of the packed shows, with one responding: "Was at the afternoon show and it was absolutely fabulous, best one ever" as another fan described the performance as "breathtaking."
Giovanni has already confirmed he will be back in Whitley Bay next year with his next tour - Let Me Entertain You - having ruled himself out of doing the Strictly tour for the second year in a row.
Plenty of fans who went to see him on Saturday revealed they've already got tickets for 2024, with others saying they were so impressed with what they saw at the weekend that they booked tickets for the next tour as soon as they left.
