Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood reveals why he saved Molly over Tyler after 'dig'

Strictly Come Dancing 's Craig Revel Horwood has explained his decision to save Molly Rainford in last weekend's dance-off, as Tyler West was sent home.

The judges were forced to choose between the celebrities after they danced again, with both of them and their professional dance partners finding themselves in the bottom two.

Despite one judge, Anton Du Beke, voting to save Tyler the rest saved Molly.

Tyler's exit came amid fans picking up on a "dig" by judge Craig, aimed at Tyler on Saturday night - which he has since responded to.

Now, Craig has explained why he saved Molly on Sunday night, and why he sent Tyler home.

Speaking on It Takes Two on Wednesday, he said: "Well because of her energy. Also the fact that technically, I thought she was really, really good.

"She was clean, she was precise, she was sharp and she'd lifted that labour quality, you know she was a little bit heavy the first time she danced it.

"The second time she danced it in the dance-off, she was a lot lighter so that's why I chose her."

Craig added: "I did think Tyler would have gone through, but it is just one of those things isn't it.

"I think it happens every year when we get two really good dancers that are put in the bottom two, and we've got to choose out of them, it's really disappointing but that's the way it is. You have just got to deal with it."

On the night, Craig was asked to give his opinion first - and he chose to save Molly and Carlos, but he did heap praise on Tyler.

"Wow, both couples danced so much better, they really did. Tyler, incredible hips, this time round, amazing. Molly, is lighter, brighter, and much more precise. I am finding this really difficult for the first time this season, but I would like to save Molly and Carlos," Craig said.

Earlier this week, Tyler reacted to a "dig" Craig had made about him on the main show over the weekend.

Craig was complimenting Will Mellor's hip action during his performance towards the end of the show, when he made a jibe at Tyler.

He said: "There was so much hip content, I think you need to go backstage and teach Tyler a thing or two about that."

Speaking about the moment on It Takes Two on Monday, Tyler called it "unnecessary" but brushed it off, as he praised all of the judges.

He said: "I mean, I don't know how necessary it was. I wasn't even showing my hips.

"But you know what? All the judges, they make their comments and I'm so grateful to be able to dance in front of them, and have their comments each week, and work with them on the show.

"They're all amazing in their own right, and it's just part of it, and you take it on board. You grow with it and you try to work harder, and I feel like we left it all there on that dancefloor. So that's all I can ask for."

Speaking after his exit, Tyler said: "I’m more than a two step now! When you watch the show at home, you wonder what it must be like to dance on it, it’s everything and more, it’s changed my life."

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 26 th November at 7.15pm.
