Strictly fans spot Gorka's 'fuming' look as Hamza Yassin is announced series winner

Hamza Yassin was crowned this year's Strictly Come Dancing champion, but eagle-eyed fans were quick to comment on the reaction of dance rival Gorka Marquez following the announcement.

In one of the closest finals to date on the ballroom contest, fans and dancers alike eagerly waited for the latest winner of the Glitterball to be called by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.

With pressure mounting in the studio, wildlife cameraman Hamza and professional dancer Jowita Przystal broke down in tears as they were victorious.

But while most contestants appeared cheerful at the result, Spanish star Gorka looked less than impressed and was spotted stone-faced when the camera panned onto him.

Fans of the show quickly took to social media to share their thoughts of his reaction, with one Twitter user questioning: "Was Gorka gutted or livid ? #StrictlyFinal"

Another penned: "ooh Gorka looks fuming here," while a third added: "Fleur and Vito so humble and happy for the winners. Gorka looks fuming."

Many fans believed he was right to look so upset and claimed he was "robbed" yet again. One user said: "Gorka is fuming and rightly so! Helen has won in so many ways. Good on her and she is my winner!"

Another agreed and slammed the final result, saying: "Nah that was fully the wrong call. Don’t get me wrong I loved Hamza throughout the series, but he wasn’t the best on the night so didn’t deserve the win! Poor Gorka’s wee face - Helen was robbed! #Strictly"

Gorka has been continuous in his praise for his dancing partner on the series, with Helen reciprocating the views. Prior to the final, presenter Helen thanked the show for helping her get her life back on track and admitted that no matter what the result, she felt like she'd already won.

She told The Mirror: "The fact that we’re here and we’re smiling and having a good time and we’ve spent all day every day together for the last three months and we’re still laughing and joking.

"I have the biggest bank of marvellous memories and that’s a win for me."

Following his win, Hamza made sure he also paid tribute to his dance partner Jowita. In his speech immediately after the announcement, he wiped back the tears as he gushed: "You [Jowita] are an angel disguised as a human being."

He then continued to say: "Thank you to everyone who voted for me. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me."
