Strictly fans spot frosty atmosphere as Tess Daly 'snubs' Craig Revel Horwood live on air

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left giggling on Saturday evening as Tess Daly snubbed judge Craig Revel Horwood partway through the show.

The moment came after Fleur East took to the BBC ballroom dance floor to perform the Viennese Waltz with her professional partner Vito Coppola, receiving an ultimate score of 28.

The 20th series of Strictly is once again being hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, with Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke returning as judges.

However, as the proceedings turned to the judging panel for their verdict on the routine, Tess awkwardly snubbed Craig and failed to come to him for his comments.

She said to Fleur: “All very constructive advice from the judges. And it's only,” before she then interrupted herself and said: “Oh, Craig, excuse me, my darling. How could I ever forget you?”

A nonchalant-looking Craig replied: “I don't mind if you miss me out, darling, it might appeal to everybody.”

Craig told Fleur she was a “gorgeous dancer” and was “absolutely so watchable”, to which Tess then said: “I agree with you Craig, thank you so much. So glad I didn't miss you out.”

Strictly fans took to Twitter to respond to the awkward moment, with many left laughing as one wrote: “Wow Tess learn how to present missing Craig out and your condescending attitude to the celebrities.”

A second said: “LOL Tess forgetting about Craig hilarious,” as a third wrote: “Tess glitching and forgetting Craig. Brilliant.”

The 15 Strictly couples took to the dancefloor for their second performances in front of the judges – with their fate in the public’s hands.

While there was no public vote last week, the pressure is now on to get their steps right as the phone lines are open after the show for fans to vote for their favourite routines.

The contestants' scores from last week have been carried over to this weekend and will be combined with the viewers' votes, with the lowest scoring couples going head to head in the first dance off of 2022.

The first results show of the series starts on Sunday 2 October at 7.15pm, beginning after the Antiques Roadshow.

The two couples with the fewest votes then go head-to-head in the dance-off, delivering another rendition of their performance from the live show.

The judges then decide which couple they would like to save, and in the event of a tie head judge Shirley Ballas is given the casting vote.

None of the duos will want to be the first to leave, but one of them will be waltzing off into the sunset when the results are announced tomorrow evening.
