Strictly Come Dancing star to miss final after having surgery just days before

ONE of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing celebrities has revealed they will be missing out on the 2024 final.

Tonight (December 14), one of the remaining Strictly couples will be crowned the winner and will finally lift the iconic glitterball trophy.

But sadly, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles won't be reuniting with the 2024 cast this evening, including with his professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk.

The 62-year-old was the third celebrity to be voted off the show after losing the dance off against former X Factor winner Shayne Ward and his dance partner Nancy Xu.

During his time on the BBC One dancing competition, Nick injured his arm while changing a tyre after the first live show in September, before he sustained a knee injury during rehearsals and missed movie week.

Speaking to fellow Strictly 2024 cast member Wynne Evans on BBC Radio Wales, Nick explained: “I was trying to play it down, because I was determined to go out dancing rather than sort of go out with the injury… I had the operation four weeks ago and that's all recovering quite nicely."

But he then announced he would be missing the last Strictly episode due to having further surgery this week.

Nick added: “I've got the operation on my knee, but it means, mate, that I'm not going to see you for the final.

"My operation's on the 12th, and the final's on the 14th.”

He previously commented on his exit during BBC Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two: “I had a week off, you can see actually everybody had progressed a lot in that week and I just didn’t have time to be able to catch up and do well enough to stay in the competition.

“I think it was the right result in the end and it means that I can now get the various bits of me that are falling off sorted out.

“I might have an operation on the arm this week and then another operation on the knee in three weeks’ time so I can get myself sorted.”

What time is the Strictly final tonight?

The final of Strictly Come Dancing will air live on Saturday from 6pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Comedian Chris McCausland will compete against fellow finalists Miranda actress Sarah Hadland, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and JLS singer JB Gill.

The final will also see the professional dancers join singer-songwriter Raye for a special performance while the cast of 2024 return to the dancefloor for one last routine.
