Ola Jordan has branded Pete Wick’s “cringy” and says the “weakest dancer” remaining in this year’s Strictly come Dancing needs to go.
The 37-year-old former The Only Way Is Essex star’s Cha Cha to Right Said Fred’s I’m Too Sexy didn’t go down particularly well with the judges, receiving a score of 27 out of 40.
Despite finding himself at the bottom of the leader board, Wicks and his pro partner Jowita Przystal managed to avoid the dance-off, but former pro Jordan thinks “it’s his time”.
Viewers noted that Wicks - who sported some very eye-catching pink trousers for the number - looked embarrassed, with some questioning whether show bosses were intentionally portraying him as a “joke” act.
Jordan - who served as a pro on the BBC dance competition from 2006 until 2015, winning in 2009 with news presenter Chris Hollins - had another take.
Speaking on behalf of Mecca Bingo, she explained: “There is another way of looking at it. It might be a case of because he's not a good dancer, they need to make something out of him to keep him in the competition.
“It's not wrong to make someone a bit of a joke. Let’s take Ann Widdecombe [MP who was the ninth to be eliminated after competing in 2010] for example, come on, she was never going to do a great dance, so they made more of a joke of her, which worked, then the people loved that, and she was amazing.”
“I just think with Pete, he's a bit cringy. I'm just worried that they're going to make too much of that, and he will then look back on his time on Strictly and think ‘I wish I didn't do that. I wish I did more proper dances.’”.
She continued: “I think people are realising that he was really bad this week, so it will get to the point where people are going to get bored of all this gyrating of his hips, and it will get to the point, I don't know if it's next week, depending on what he's doing, if he does a really good lovely number, I feel he's going to go because people will think he doesn't need the votes anymore, so maybe that's what's going to happen.”
“I think it's his time to be in the bottom two. If he finds himself in the bottom two, he's going to go because he is definitely the weakest dancer compared to everyone else.”
