Kym Marsh has been confirmed as the second contestant set to take part in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The 46-year-old actor and singer, known for starring in Coronation Street, will join Will Mellor in the celebrity line-up for the glitzy upcoming show.
The news was confirmed by the BBC as the television studios geared up for its 20th season, starting on September 7.
Speaking about her upcoming appearance, Marsh admitted it felt a little “unreal”.
“I’ve considered doing Strictly for years but the timings never worked out,” she said in a statement.
“I’m so delighted that this year they have! I’m a huge fan of the show and can’t believe I’m going to go from watching at home in my pyjamas to actually dancing in front of the judges in a glittery dress, it’s unreal!”
Marsh shot to fame when she competed in Popstars to land a role in the band Hear’Say. She then went on to star in Coronation Street for 13 years.
The soap star is also expected to return to acting this year after it was confirmed she was appearing in a revival of BBC Ones’s Waterloo Road.
Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps actor Will Mellor was also announced as a contestant on Strictly. Mellor has also appeared on Coronation Street and Hollyoaks.
“I’m honestly so chuffed to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year,” Mellor said when his casting was announced on BBC Breakfast.
“Not going to lie, it’s totally out of my comfort zone and I know it will be a huge challenge but that’s what life is all about.”
He added: “This is also my mum’s favourite show and she’s had a really tough few years so I’m doing this is for her as well. Bring it on!”.
