Five more children have died in England after contracting Strep A.
The latest figures from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) show 21 children have now died after contracting the invasive bacteria. Two children in Wales and one in Northern Ireland have also died as the death toll has risen this winter to 24.
UKHSA data has continued to show an out of season increase in scarlet fever and group A streptococcus infections and a higher number of cases than seen in a typical year. Since September 12, there have been 94 Invasive group A streptococcus (iGAS) deaths across all age groups in England - as Mirror Online reports.
