Streets surrounding Greenhills Road shut to traffic as Dublin Fire Brigade tackle blaze in former factory

The streets surrounding a derelict factory on the Greenhills Road were shut to traffic last night as Dublin Fire Brigade tackled a blaze.

Three fire engines were called to the scene in Tallaght to tackle the flames and firefighters with breathing apparatus attended. Thankfully there were no injuries reported.

Dublin Fire Brigade shared pictures of the scene. They said: "Firefighters were called to reports of a fire off the Greenhills Road tonight. The fire was located inside a derelict factory and extinguished by breathing apparatus teams. Three fire engines attended the incident and nearby roads were temporarily closed."

It's the second call Dublin Fire Brigade have had to make to the Greenhills Road area in recent days. On Sunday they prevented a car that was on fire from spreading to other vehicles.

They happened to be in the area when returning from a call and thankfully managed to arrive to the scene quickly. They said: "Firefighters prevented a vehicle fire from spreading to nearby cars off the Greenhills Road overnight. A fire engine was returning from a call and happened to be close by when the incident started. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots."
