Streets have been eerily quiet in Liverpool this Christmas Eve.
All the planning and preparation throughout the festive season is finally coming to an end, with the big day just hours away. For some, Christmas Eve is all about cosying up under blankets watching films and indulging in cheese, crackers and chocolates.
But for others, it's all about a trip to the pub to down a few pints with friends and family. In Liverpool and surrounding areas, there's no shortage of impressive pubs - from quaint little boozers to spacious, swanky sites, there's something to suit everyone.

This Christmas Eve, ECHO photographers were out and about to capture all the action. But surprisingly, streets were looking deserted, with many pubs even closing their doors. A usually busy Matthew Street was seen empty of people.
This year is the first year completely free of all restrictions but many people had seemingly chosen other ways to celebrate the festive occasion. What would normally be a busy night was left quieter than normal as party goers stayed away from the pubs and bars.
It has been a busy week this week with shoppers rushing to the city centre to finish their last minute shopping as cars were reportedly queuing for hours. Video taken by the ECHO shows hundreds of vehicles at a standstill, with queues extending through the city centre.
